In 1996 the Whitefish, Montana Rifle and Pistol Club formed an affiliation with the Williamsport Original 1000 Yard Benchrest Club to conduct 1000 Yard matches. Early in 1998 the Northwest 1000 Yard Benchrest Association was formed. All matches are held at the Deep Creek Rifle Range in Missoula, Montana. The club members are continually updating the range and it is now one of the best long distance shooting ranges in the country.

The new rules institued last year will be continued this year - this is to allow guns from IBS and NBRSA in the 16 1/2 and Heavy Gun Classes. This will apply to the Championship Shoot only. However, these guns will not qualify for World Records under Pennsylvania Rules. Guns that weigh in under 16 1/2 lbs. will qualify for World Records. All guns will be qualified for prizes that are awarded at the shoot. To be eligible to compete in the Championship Shoot competitors much be members of the Northwest 1000 Yard Club and yearly dues are $30.00. Shooting fees for the Championship Shoot will be $30.00 each gun, each day.
Lunch will be served on Saturday at a cost of $3.00 per person. There will be a steak dinner on Saturday night for $5.00 per person. Camping is available at the club with electricity, and you can fill with water at the gate. We had quite a few campers last year, so it may be a good thing to call and reserve a space.
